Invest in Gloucestershire welcomes Maryland delegation to Gloucestershire

A high level delegation from Maryland State in the US was hosted by The Invest in Gloucestershire team and key partners last week.

The delegation included the Director of Cybersecurity and Aerospace at Maryland Department of Commerce who was keen to explore the opportunities to collaborate between the two regions.

The delegation, who were visiting the Infosecurity Europe event in London last week, made a short stop to Gloucestershire as part of a cyber orientation tour of the Midlands and the South West. The afternoon meeting focused on valuable conversations and presentations defining on the robust partnerships within the cyber community. Participants included CyNam, NCSC, GFirst Careers Hub, the University of Gloucestershire, Plexal, Infosec People and Cyntegra. The meeting also included a presentation on the Maryland State economic landscape .

The Invest in Gloucestershire team were able to demonstrate to the delegation, the great synergies at play in the county in this burgeoning sector. Particularly the great entrepreneurial opportunities for growth especially through the NCSC for Start Ups programme and the wealth of local talent available.

Maryland State is strategically positioned close to Washington DC with a thriving entrepreneurs ecosystem, leading tech universities and poses an ideal location for tech businesses looking to establish a US base. 

The team would like to thank all involved in this valuable meeting and will be looking to establish links between the Maryland state department and businesses in the coming months.
