Deputy Trade Commissioner of Kenya Visits Gloucestershire

5 March 2020

On 5th March 2020, the Invest in Gloucestershire team had the pleasure of welcoming Rachel Fisher Lamb, her Majesty's Deputy Trade Commissioner for Africa, Department for International Trade (DIT) and Head of Trade for the South West (DIT).

To begin the day, we hosted a business roundtable at the Gloucester Growth Hub with companies from around Gloucestershire. From there, we moved onto Bloodhound LSR based at SGS Berkeley Green. There we met with the team from Bloodhound and were shown around the Bloodhound LSR car that holds the current world land speed record of 763mph.

Upon leaving Bloodhound LSR we moved onto the Gloucester Services, a great asset to the county. Once there, we had a working lunch and were met with Adam Starkey from Green Gourmet and Deputy Chair of GFirst LEP. We discussed investment coming from Africa into the UK and spoke about Gloucestershire and how important trade deals with Africa are and if there are any current issues with importing or exporting from Africa.

Finally, we then travelled on Hartpury University’s working farm to look at their Agritech project, Tech to Plate (a GFirst LEP Project). We were shown around the project and the advanced new technologies that they are using and testing in the live farm.
