Gloucestershire’s Agri-tech Sector: A Growing Hub for Innovation and Investment

11 September 2025

Gloucestershire is accelerating its position as a UK hotspot for Agri-tech innovation, thanks to a powerful blend of collaboration, enterprise, and strategic alignment.

The Gloucestershire Agri-tech Partnership which is made up of Farm491 at the Royal Agricultural University, Hartpury University & College, Campden BRI, Countryside and Community Research Institute, and Gloucestershire County Council is driving forward a shared agenda to support the sector’s growth, resilience, and investment potential. The group also feeds into the South West Agritech Partnership, ensuring Gloucestershire’s strengths are represented at a regional level.

Last week, the Gloucestershire Agri-tech Partnership met with CyNam to kick-start planning for a new series of collaborative events aimed at boosting digital resilience across the Agri-tech sector. The goal is to support innovation, improve operational efficiency, and enhance profitability, while ensuring systems and data remain secure in an increasingly connected landscape. A stakeholder roundtable is planned for early 2026 to shape the programme, which will bring together farmers, tech innovators, cyber experts, and insurers to tackle real-world challenges and unlock new commercial opportunities.

An upcoming digital resilience event at Hartpury will also engage students from across the county, building future talent pipelines and raising awareness of cybersecurity in agriculture.

These initiatives reflect Gloucestershire’s growing reputation as a place where innovation meets practical impact, supported by engagement with the Department for Business and Trade’s Agri-Food Sector Team and recognition in the UK’s Industrial Strategy.
