Making Darkscope part of the Gloucestershire cyber ecosystem

When Darkscope was looking to set up a UK arm of its business, it wanted to be located in a hotbed of innovation. Invest in Gloucestershire paved the way to settle them into the fast-growing Gloucestershire cyber landscape.

Darkscope is a cybersecurity firm that uses AI to identify threats far earlier than other solutions, monitoring dark web activity in real time. They also help companies to identify their potential risk and offer investigation and forensics services for businesses that have been subject to attack.

Initially based out of New Zealand, Darkscope has been growing rapidly and wanted to set up a UK office. We met Morten Steen Mjels, EMEA General Manager, and after finding out more about what Darkscope needed, we set up a tour to show Morten and his team what was on offer in Gloucestershire. This includes visits to partners such as CyNam, Gloucestershire College, specialist recruiters, government representatives, the University of Gloucestershire, and some of our innovation hubs.

When the Department of Business & Trade asked us which tech companies had recently landed in Gloucestershire, we put Darkscope forward as a great example. They were  invited to speak at a panel in front of 300 investors and shared the  benefits of being part of the Gloucestershire cyber landscape.

They have also benefited from our introduction to Innovate UK since landing in Cheltenham, gaining a huge amount of knowledge and support from their programmes.

"The Invest in Gloucestershire team has been pivotal in establishing our entry into the UK market. Their unwavering support at every stage of the process has been invaluable, and it’s truly inspiring to witness such dedication and passion for building a brighter future through collaboration” "Gloucestershire proved to be a far better fit for us than London, thanks to its vibrant startup scene and thriving culture of innovation. That’s precisely the kind of environment we were looking for.”
